Kindergarten and grades 1 & 2
The Primary program at Resurrection Catholic strives to nurture the young child by instilling a love for learning that will serve as a foundation for future academic experiences. Students participate in a variety of learning activities that are active, integrated, and developmentally appropriate. Learning centers and cooperative learning activities stress the philosophy that young children learn best through active exploration and appropriate interactions with others.
Our Mathematics program is designed to emphasize conceptual understanding while building a mastery of basic skills. This strong content base in mathematics explores the full spectrum, not just arithmetic. Problem solving, communication, mathematical connections, and reasoning are the skills promoted throughout the year.
The Language Arts program is the foundation of academic instruction in the Catholic elementary school. Retaining our Catholic identity is critical in the selection of reading and writing materials we utilize with the students. Success in all areas of learning relies on competency in the four areas of language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. In working toward this goal it is essential we provide instruction that supports and challenges students with varying learning styles and abilities. Based on the diversity of students' strengths and learning styles, the program is structured to foster their growth within a positive and non-competitive learning environment. Students have weekly classes in computer, art, library, physical education, music, and Spanish.
